TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan โ€” The Cagayan Museum and Historical Research Center, in collaboration with the Cagayano Artists Group, Inc. (CAGI), officially opened “Agos IV” to mark the regional celebration of National Arts Month 2026 yesterday.

This fourth installment of the “Agos” series showcases a diverse collection of visual artworks from homegrown talents, bridging the gap between established masters and the local community’s emerging artistic voices.

The exhibit spans the Museum’s newly renovated south wing and part of the Bannag Gallery at the ground floor of the building. It is open to public viewing daily, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM on weekdays and 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM on weekends.

During the launching ceremony, CAGI representative Julius Bumagat emphasized that the exhibitionโ€™s theme reflects the unceasing creative flow of Cagayano artists and the Provincial Governmentโ€™s commitment to elevating local talent to the global stage. He also noted that while artificial intelligence (AI) continues to rise in popularity, it cannot replicate the “soul and skill” found in handmade pieces forged by human experience.

Museum Director Niรฑo Kevin Baclig lauded the visible progression in the artists’ skills, noting that this growth has prompted Local Government Units (LGUs) to increase their investments in the provinceโ€™s arts and crafts sector.

This sentiment was echoed by Governor Egay Aglipay, who was represented by Chief-of-Staff Gen. Felipe Buena (ret.). In his speech, the governor underscored the EGAY Platformโ€™s role in fostering a continuous flow of identity. He likened the artists’ persistence to the Cagayan Riverโ€” never stagnant and always moving forward to inspire future generations while providing a metaphorical voice to the province’s past and future aspirations.

The event was attended by local artists including CAGI members and the Cagayano Youth Artists Group, officials from the Provincial Government of Cagayan, Cagayan and Tuguegarao City tourism offices, local media, as well as other organizations from the local culture and arts sector including the Cagayan Heritage Conservation Society and North Luzon Cinema Guild Inc..
